FAR-GO

Okay, just a caution, this isn't the normal upbeat post...

So, I am headed out to Fargo tomorrow morning for two reasons, neither of which is real good. I have a huge extended family. I mean huge. My parents both grew up in the same very, very small town not too far from Fargo. So, that is where my other set of "roots" are. And, most of my extended family has stayed in that area or moved to the Bismark area. Thanksgiving in North Dakota is usually an intimate feast for 70-90 depending on the year. And that isn't everyone. We rent out a community center. So, as you would expect, I have family (as well as a few friends) who are fighting to keep out the horrible flooding. Thankfully, most of my relatives are safe for now but can see the flood waters approaching. Sandbagging has become the thing to do. A few of my relatives are lucky enough to have flood insurance, a few...not so lucky. I had hoped to do some sandbagging if I had the time but I am now planning on donating as much as I can for canned goods/food instead. Can't imagine losing your home, food, and your things. Yes, they are just things but sometimes, things mean more than you'd think. However, the main reason, I am headed to ND is my mom's mother (my gma) died. It's been a tough week for my family in ND as well as everyone else. Please keep these people in your thoughts...I will post pictures as I can when I get back.

So....

Not that I plan on doing this now. But, those who have made the change, is it worth the money to upgrade from a road bike to a tri bike? And if so, which brand do you go with and how do you decide? Felt? Specialized? So many choices. Good thing I have plenty of time to decide as I'm just looking into it now. But, I am thinking if I get in and do IM Moo next year, and bike 112 miles, I may want a tri bike. No?

Those in MN, enjoy the warmth today! I may have to roll out the grill...it is a heat wave afterall! :)

One more thing...

Check out this awesome site. I am so canceling cable. It also has the ironman stream you can sign up and watch any new videos on the Ironman.

Pics soon....oh and I know that bike in the last post is super pink but I'd take it in red.

Ooooh, this bike was made for me

I was dreaming today. I found this. I think it is made for me. Seriously. Except I'd have to raise the seat as it looks like it is made for an ewok, but hey, I could handle that. Now if I only had money....

Pics from Polar Plunge to follow as soon as I get them from people!

So I can't sleep...

Not sure why. I have never been a good sleeper (unless it is an afternoon nap) but I have a billion things racing in my head tonight or at least a billion more than normal.

Such as:
Should I get groceries tomorrow since all I have really is butter and eggs?
Dang I have to get up early to put gas in my car tomorrow morning since I was too lazy to brave the 100 mile an hour ice winds today.
I wonder if we'll have an early spring.
Ha, that's funny.
Damn that groundhog and the snowbank he rode in on.
I wonder if I should wear two different length socks for the polar plunge this weekend. One anklet length and one knee high Just because I can.
Hmmm. If I signed up for an ironman, could I really finish it?
I think I'd probably puke.
Oooh my hands are now sweating.
And I think I am thirsty.
I better get up and get something to drink.
Oh yeah, I better remember to pack my spin clothes for tomorrow night's class.
Maybe I should take a night class this summer in spanish or some language?
No, would be too hot to sit in school all summer.
That's why God created winter in Minnesota.
I wonder how much money the broadcasting from PA on groundhog day costs? Cause seriously, that damn groundhog needs to be bribed.

I mean, I don't understand why I can't sleep at all....

Coldest Event I'll Ever Do...I Hope

Hyperlink isn't working so you get the real deal:

http://specialolympicsminnesota.org/Polar_Plunge_App.php?regid=7511&step=pledge&action=showwebpage&event_id=11&team_id=1079

Paste the link in just as it is. Don't take any spaces out! Check it out. If you want to contribute for Special Olympics, thanks a ton. Or, just check out the site! That's awesome too! Pics will follow in a few weeks.

Until then, I think I'll stop shaving my legs. Maybe that will make me warmer? Eww. This can't be too much colder than the Buffalo Triathlon last year...can it? I wonder if this is wetsuit legal?

I'm here right now....

and here

Okay not really but it's fun to dream. I'd even settle for here:

It looks warm at least doesn't it? Speaking of warm, I will not be warm in a few weeks when I do the polar plunge to raise money for special olympics with a few other crazy people. Anyone else in the TC area crazy enough to do this? Brrrrr!
