New Territory

Here are some pictures of my new trail I found that is very close to my house. I love it. It's just like being in the woods and is right next to a lake. Plus, I can hear the frogs and ducks. Which is a nice break from the iPod. So, I've been running this lake loop which is almost a 5k on my "off nights" when we don't have our running group.I kind of like the off nights. They aren't as tough as the longer runs and it's kind of nice to run at your own pace and not feel pressured to go a certain speed.

On another note, I've been having problems with my Garmin software. For some reason, after doing a software update, it now won't download any of my runs to my computer. It keeps track of them on the Garmin but won't download. How frustrating. I've read the manual with no luck and have been emailing tech support but they keep offering things I've already tried. Oh well, I guess I can live without the software but I actually was starting to understand my heart rate a little better. Anyone else had this problem with the software?
For all those who ran Boston, awesome job! Not only are you all my idols for running Boston itself, but for running it in such crappy weather!

Never Would Have Guessed That...

I thought I'd be the middle...

You Are a Ring Finger

You are romantic, expressive, and hopeful. You see the best in everything.
You are very artistic, and you see the world as your canvas. You are also drawn to the written word.
Inventive and unique, you are often away in your own inner world.

You get along well with: The Pinky

Stay away from: The Index Finger

Is that crazy?

I'm doing Grandma's Half Marathon which is scheduled for the middle of June. However, I am also thinking of doing the Fargo Half Marathon which I think is in May. The reason is, most of my extended family lives in the Fargo area and it would be one of the only times they could ever come and watch a race as they don't make it to MN very often. But, I am wondering if that's too much? I did the half last year and have done a few long runs already but, is two half marathons in two months crazy? What do you think?

Miss Independent

So this weekend has been really crazy. I went over to my brother and sister-in-law's house to bring my nephew his Easter gift. He had on new shoes and was truckin' around the house showing off. He did awesome in shoes considering he hasn't been walking for very long. After a while, I decided I better get something done. I bought a new faucet for my upstairs bathroom about two weeks ago. I really didn't like the one it had when I bought the place but just hadn't had the chance to replace it yet. Well with the rainy weather, I thought no time was better than now. So, Saturday early afternoon, my roommate helped me take out the old faucet.
We ran into a few snags. The old plumbing was really gross and basically didn't come apart very well. It took us forever to get the old one out and considering, I have NO upper body strength whatsoever, my poor roommate ended up having to get most of it loose. So, we went to Home Depot and got some new flexible piping, put that on and started to install the new faucet.
We got the new one installed and it looked great. We checked for leaks and everything looked fine. About two hours later, we found a leak whenever you turned the cold water on. Thankfully, it didn't make a mess as we smartly had put towels down underneath the new pipes just to be sure. I was too tired to fix it so we shut the water off on that side and I went to bed and got up this morning to tighten the piping some more. It stopped leaking and is now working so I was happy! Here is the final result.
I really like it but I need to put a new drain in yet as the old one is silver and mine is brushed nickel. I wasn't feeling brave enough to do that as you have to take apart the entire sink. I'll get to it at some point though. I felt horrible though as I was supposed to meet a friend in Roseville and on my way to Roseville was going to drop in on a birthday party. I didn't make it to either one as I was so busy. I also now have had butterflies in my stomach and am also a little stressed as a discovered a leak in one of my pipes from my shower while I was shutting off the water downstairs in the utility closet. It is what appears to be once again bad pipes (my place is only ten years old...what's with that?) so I am hoping it isn't expensive. This one, I am not going to try to fix myself as it looks complicated. And no, I didn't do it. SOOOO, I'll be calling a plumber to fix that. But, I am one of those people where my mind starts to wander...I've already started thinking about it at night while laying in bed and it's only been one night. "Hmmm...I wonder if it could be this too..." or my personal favorite "What if in the middle of the night, it just starts flowing like a river and I wake up in Lake Superior?" I do have a good imagination, I will say that. Some days, I get a little frustrated with owning your own place but I am learning a lot, that's for sure! Needless to say, I slacked on the running this weekend. I went on Friday but wasn't feeling too good so I cut my run short and didn't do anything Saturday (see plumbing up above) and today, I treated myself to more laziness and watched one of my favorites, The Wedding Date and also watched Remember the Titans. Hopefully, I'll get back on track this week. Pray for a cheap plumbing bill......
